Facilitation Training

About the Course

The Team holding the space want to pass on what we've been given and learned over the years, learn more about ourselves and develop our own practice, hang with one another as men and have some fun together.

Our approach is person-centred, explorative and experiential. The learning and growth come through sincere sharing from ourselves with one another rather than through structured activities and theory.

We will use techniques for clearing with others, how to stand and work together to produce an outcome and how to support men in vulnerability. There will be time to reflect and to try new things in an environment of care and support.

The emptier the internal bucket is from past life's experiences the more intuitive, spontaneous, and profound the opportunity is to offer real guidance and long term change to both you and the men you work with.

We do not pretend to know all the answers, but we do know that providing a space for men to turn up, interact together to see patterns of behaviour, offers hope of lasting change. Give yourself the gift of some time and space to explore yourself.

Come in the spirit of truth, of not knowing, of courage,
of all that is and all that is possible.

Come and fulfill the spirit of intention of the man
who paid forward for you... this time.

Heed the call of the silent dweller...
Come, come, come...

In this three day space there will be time to explore this mutual dynamic of interdependence, getting direct feedback from the men you are working with on your approach, the intervention and its purpose along with instant information on the outcome.

Our offering of training provides you, a man who supports men the opportunity to explore the relationship between how you operate in the world in relation to men who come seeking your support. It may be there are times and places that do not allow you to authentically respond to the call of support. For example you might notice in yourself the tendency towards martyrdom, this is not useful to you or to the men you support.

We will use your skills and life situations to explore this space, sometimes using methods developed in the Men Being Real weekend, and at other times taking the lead from some spontaneous welling up from within the group. it may be one on one with another man, it may be in larger group setting where the field of interaction is complex and multifaceted.

We will work together; sometimes you may be the facilitator of part of the space or the whole space, sometimes you will be the man coming to change his life and others will offer insights and guidance. There are no right or wrong ways to operate in this space, we are all learning together.

You will gain knowledge on how to hold a group of men. Plenty of opportunities to explore your edge, of being exposed and standing up.

Therapeutic interventions often suggest the therapist remains as neutral as possible. We find in working with men who come to us that this neutrality comes at a cost and sometime this cost is quite high. This workshop is part of the answer in that it provides a space for men who work with men to explore an issue whilst bringing their own responses to the process.

Pricing

Funding for this course is organised differently from other Essentially Men offerings. Men who attended the previous training courses have already paid for you to attend.
