Service Teams

Each Men Being Real workshop is supported by a service team of 8 – 9 men who have already completed the Men Being Real weekend course.

Men on a workshop service team are there to support the process of the new men participating and in the process can also continue their own work. Each team has a coordinator who brings the team together, works closely with the facilitators and ensures the smooth running and resourcing of the workshop.

The Facilitation Collective annually run a Team Day for men who have previously been on teams or who are interested in being on teams.  These days are an enjoyable way for Essentially Men service team members to learn support skills and become more aware of what it entails to be in a service team for a Men Being Real course.

Being “on team” is a rewarding and often challenging experience and is a way for men to enjoy giving back and making a difference in the lives of new men attending. Men find it a powerful and satisfying experience that reaffirms the rich value of the process – for themselves – as well as for the men attending the workshop for the first time. Service team members leave the workshop with a deeper impression and lasting connections with the men attending.

“…This was the first time that I have been on a service team…It was an awesome, magical experience for me. I have never experienced anything like this before. I felt so proud to be part of the service team and it was so rewarding to see the change in the men…” Kevin Stevens
